Council Approves Final Matching Funds for Bayou Greenways 2020

Mayor Pro Tem Cohen and her colleagues approved the $17M final allocation of matching funds for the Bayou Greenways 2020. Over the past seven years, through a public-private partnership with the Houston Parks Board, our city has realized the vision of connecting nearly 160 miles of hike and bike trail greenspace along Houston’s bayou corridors. The project is on-schedule and, when completed in 2020, over 3,000 acres of greenspace will have been created and connected.

Upcoming Meeting: Major Thoroughfare and Freeway Plan Amendments

On Thursday, August 29th, the Houston Planning Commission will host a meeting to review and vote on proposed amendments to the 2019 Major Thoroughfare and Freeway Plan. This annually-reviewed document identifies the widths, speed limits, and building setbacks of Houston’s streets. The meeting will begin at 2:30PM in City Hall Annex Chambers (900 Bagby St, Public Level, 77002).

The 2019 MTFP will then move to City Council for a vote in September. All Planning Commission meetings are open to the public, include the opportunity for public comment, and are streamed and archived online via HTV.

August Quality of Life Meeting Cancelled

Please note: the August meeting of the Council Committee on Quality of Life has been cancelled. The next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, September 25th at 2PM in Council Chambers at City Hall. All committee meetings are open to the public and include the opportunity for public comment.
