Two Upcoming Projects: Cottage Grove East CIP & Dunlavy St CIP

The Houston Public Works Department hosted two public meetings in in the past week to discuss two upcoming capital improvement projects in District C.

Cottage Grove East will be reconstructed within the boundaries of TC Jester Blvd, Shepherd Dr, the I-10 frontage road, and White Oak Bayou. Construction will begin this fall, 2019, and anticipated to be complete in Spring 2022.

COTTAGE GROVE EAST PROJECT PRESENTATION

Dunlavy St will be rebuilt from W. Main St to Richmond Ave. The new road will include a six foot bike lane on both sides of the street. Construction will take place in three phases, from west to east, and one lane of traffic in each direction will be open throughout the project, which is expected to be complete in February 2020.

DUNLAVY ST PROJECT PRESENTATION

Both projects provide for the design and construction of new roadways with storm drainage, curbs, sidewalks, driveways, street lighting, and upgrades to necessary underground utilities.

Houston Celebrates July 4th

On Thursday, July 4th, from 4PM-10PM, Houston will host the 32nd annual Independence Day celebration on Buffalo Bayou with CITGO Freedom Over Texas. Festivities will include live music from Jake Owen, Kellie Pickler, and several other artists on four stages throughout Sam Houston Park and District C’s Eleanor Tinsley Park. The fireworks display will begin at 9:35PM. Expect area street closures beginning Tuesday, July 2nd.

Please note, the District C office will be closed on Thursday, July 4th in observance of Independence Day. There will be no solid waste pickup that day and collection schedules will be altered on Friday, July 5th.
