This Week at City Hall

Jul. 18, 2014Office of Council Member Ellen Cohen

CAP Member in the Spotlight: Marge Mayer

As the Editor of the Marilyn Estates GazetteMarge Mayer always has the latest scoop on what’s happening in her neighborhood. From crime statistics to beautification updates to meeting notices, Marge’s reports are the best way to stay up-to-date on Marilyn Estates, a quiet, family-friendly neighborhood located in the southern portion of District C. Thanks to Marge’s dedicated service as a Cohen Ambassador, there is always an open line of communication between Council Member Cohen and Marilyn Estates residents.

The Cohen Ambassador Program (CAP) was created to help our City Hall office track the ideas and concerns of the nearly 80 civic clubs from around District C. The program allows our ambassadors to trade stories about challenges and successes in their various neighborhoods.

On the Agenda

Council authorized an agreement between The First Tee of Greater Houston, Inc. (TFT) and the Houston Golf Association for the operation and maintenance of F.M. Law Park Junior Golf Course, as well as the administration of The First Tee Education Program at that facility. The TFT Education Program serves over 200 schools in the greater Houston area by providing training for physical education instructors to teach basic golf skills, etiquette, and play to elementary students. Schools interested in participating in this program may contact the Houston Golf Association at (281) 454-7000 or hgaoffice@hga.org.
