The City of Houston received five proposals for the One Bin for All initiative. A Request for Proposals for the waste diversion project was issued in April, 2014.
The City of Houston invited submittals from short-listed firms that participated in the City’s earlier Request for Qualifications process.
“We have reached another key milestone in this process and are eager to move forward as this advanced recycling and waste diversion technology has the potential to improve health and quality of life not only in Houston, but around the world,” said Mayor Annise Parker.
The City is seeking a public/private partnership that will change the way the City handles trash, significantly increase its overall recycling and waste diversion rate, create jobs within the City limits, maintain a cost-neutral expense to the City, reduce greenhouse gas emissions compared to current processes, and protect and educate local communities.
The City will now review the proposals, and will have a recommendation by the end of the year.
