BARC Animal Shelter and Adoptions is kicking off Summertime this Memorial Day weekend with Name-Your-Price adoptions for all dogs, cats, puppies and kittens at BARC from Friday, May 23 – Sunday, May 25. A $5 minimum donation is required. Stop by BARC, located at 3200 Carr Street, Houston 77026, Friday – Sunday from noon to 5:30 p.m. to meet hundreds of dogs and cats in all shapes and sizes available for adoption. Thanks to Proler Southwest/Sims Metal Management for making this event possible.

“The warmer weather is here, and that means we’re taking in hundreds of animals per week,” said Ashtyn Rivet, BARC Marketing and Outreach Lead. “Just in the last two days, we have taken in 306 dogs and cats. That’s about 28 animals per hour for every hour we have been open since May 20. We want to give every one of these animals the home he or she deserves, but we need Houston’s help. Come out and meet the perfect furry friend this weekend at BARC.”

More than 50 puppies, 125 dogs, and over 100 cats and kittens are available for adoption.

BARC’s adoption package includes spay/neuter surgery, a one-year City license, a pre-registered microchip, age-appropriate vaccinations and a toy. This package could cost hundreds at other pet organizations.

If you are unable to permanently adopt a pet but would like to help animals in need, BARC encourages you to consider becoming a volunteer or foster pet parent.

The simplest but most powerful thing you can do to help BARC and pets throughout our community is to talk to your friends, neighbors, and family about caring for pets responsibly. To donate to BARC online via the Houston BARC Foundation,
