State Rep. Ellen Cohen met with a group of local realtors earlier this month in a “Listening Session” to hear about their concerns as she prepares for the 2011 legislative session. Rep. Cohen is meeting with different individuals and groups during the interim as she is working on her legislative agenda. “These listening sessions give me an opportunity to hear directly from key stakeholders in District 134,” said Rep. Cohen. “My goal is to listen and learn as I prepare for the upcoming legislative session.” The Texas Legislature convenes for the 82nd Legislative Session on Tuesday, January 11, 2011.

The group of realtors shared information regarding specific matters related to the realtor community both locally and statewide. “As the Houston Association of Realtors prepares for next year’s legislative session, Rep. Ellen Cohen’s constituents are especially appreciative of the Realtor Roundtable she held at her district office recently,” said Dana Kervin, Chief Political Strategist for the Houston Association of Realtors (HAR). “She listened to their concerns such as real estate transfer fees, eminent domain and a tax on services. Her openness and willingness to make a positive difference speak well of her character, integrity, and leadership.”
