Statement by State Rep. Ellen Cohen on Passage of Prop. 15

Nov. 6, 2007 in Press Releases

Rep. Cohen issued the following quote regarding today’s passage of Proposition 15:

“As a cancer survivor, and the widow of a man who battled valiantly against this disease, and the representative of District 134, I am thrilled by the overwhelming support voters have given to Prop. 15. The bipartisan team that worked on this legislation included prominent Republicans like my colleague Rep. Jim Keffer, and Senator Jane Nelson, as well as Democrats like Rep. Patrick Rose and Senator Kirk Watson. We were proud to kick off this campaign in Houston with cycling champion Lance Armstrong along with support of the American Cancer Society and the Susan G. Komen Foundation. We knew that Democrats, Republicans, and independents supported this investment in cancer prevention, treatment, and the hope for a cure. I would like to thank the voters of Texas, from every political persuasion, for supporting Prop. 15.”

District 134 includes all of Bellaire, West University, River Oaks, Rice University and the Texas Medical Center, along with parts of Meyerland and Montrose.
